How To Interview Potential Real Estate Agents
Treat interviewing an agent as a job interview – you are hiring them to work for you.
Ask questions such as:
- How long have you worked in real estate?
- How long have you been with your broker?
- How many sales have you closed in the past year?
- How many sales have you closed in the past month?
- What makes you different than any of the other agents I could choose from?
Real Estate Agent Fees
You do not have to pay any up front costs with a real estate agent, they only get paid when the sale closes.
The seller of the home pays the agent’s fees, for both the buyer and the seller’s agents.
Should You Use an Agent Who Is Selling A Home You Like?
Think twice before using the agent who is listing a property you are interested in to represent you as well. That agent has a legal obligation to look out for the best interest of the seller because they have a signed agreement.
That agent does not have to look out for your best interest.
Now let’s move on to the next step, writing offers.
